Popular fall birding tours return to Great Salt Plains State Park, Jack and Yvonna Hill lead the tours through one of the Midwest’s best birding sites. |
The Hills have been birding for decades all over the world and have logged more than 190 species of birds at Great Salt Plains. Past tours have logged as many as 130 different species in the State Park and Salt Plains National Wildlife Refuge. |
Great Salt Plains is in the heart of the central flyway, one of the main north-south migration routes in America |
It is one of the few local stops for the rare whooping crane |
Hill says the tours are designed for birding experts as well as those who do not know a Western Bluebird from a Blue Grosbeak |
Tours begin at 8:00 a.m. daily at the River Road Campground. |
Participants are encouraged to dress comfortably for the weather and bring binoculars. |
Great Salt Plains State Park Rt 1 Box 28 / Jet, Oklahoma 73749 (in north central Oklahoma) Tours are free but Reservations are recommended Toll Free: 800-654-8240 / Phone: 580-626-4731 |
